Social Prescribing for ex Armed Forces people - interview on Radio Gloucestershire
As part of our Social Prescribing work, Independence Trust offers support to ex-services people to help with the transition to civilian life after they have left the armed forces.
Two staff from Independence Trust were on Dominic Cotter's show on Radio Gloucestershire on April 14th. Cynthia Kerr (our Senior Operations Manager) and Denis Mutisya (our Social Prescriber Link Worker - Armed Forces) explained the social prescribing support that we can offer to people after they leave the military. Both Cynthia and Denis served for a number of years in the forces, so they have personal insight into the difficult adjustments that people need to make when they return to civilian life.
Cynthia and Denis also gave the details of a new Women's Group for current and former members of the armed forces (or partners of armed forces people). This group runs at Kingsholm Stadium, 10am to 11.30am on the last Wednesday of every month.
On the second Wednesday of the month, 10am to noon, also at Kingsholm Stadium, there is the Veterans' Hub, a great place to get support from Veterans' Organisations and socialise with other veterans.
You can listen to a recording of the interview here.
