Mental Health Awareness Week 2019

Posted on: Mon 13th May, 2019

Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) takes place from 13-19th May 2019, and the theme this year is Body Image. Our thoughts and feelings about our bodies can impact us throughout our lives, with the Mental Health Foundation reporting that 1 in 5 UK adults have felt shame because of their body image in the past year.

In support of Mental Health Awareness Week, the Independence Trust’s ‘Do It Group’ are taking an info bus around Stroud, Ebley and Nailsworth on Friday 17th May to provide information, support and engage in thought provoking public interaction around this year’s theme of body image. Our ‘Do It Group’ consists of Independence Trust clients with expertise and experience in mental ill health. They will be discussing what body image means to them and tackling a number of common body image myths.

The following events are taking place on Friday 17th May 2019:

  • Do It Group at The Shambles Market, Stroud. 9am – 2pm
  • Info bus outside Ebley Mill, Stroud. 9am – 1:30pm
  • Info bus outside Nailsworth Bus Station. 3pm – 5pm
